30 Dec 2021Beldarra showed an abundance of potential last season and our daughter of Hinchinbrook has quickly turned that into a winning performance this term.
The three-year-old put an unplaced resuming run in the Gr.3 Cambridge Stud Northland Breeders’ Stakes behind her and, off the back of a trial win, proved too strong this afternoon for her maiden rivals over 1100 metres at Taupo.
The Lance Noble-prepared Beldarra sat in fourth spot under a tight rein before rider Leith Innes made his move 500 metres from home and they proved the dominant force in the run to the post.
During a light juvenile preparation, she showed her quality with placings in the Gr.2 Matamata Breeders’ Stakes and the Listed Waikato Equine Veterinary Stakes.
We purchased the filly out of Little Avondale Stud’s draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale draft for $115,000.
Beldarra is out of the winning Sebring mare Inside Step, who is a sister to the stakes winner Come Fly With Me. By More Than Ready, she is the dam of the multiple winner and Listed placegetter Sizzling.
The G3 SAJC Breeders’ Stakes and Magic Millions Guineas winner Flying Jess, also by Hinchinbrook, features in the upfront pedigree.
