Shooting To Win three-year-old Flamebird delivered a hot performance on her return to racing with a runaway victory at Pukekohe.

Our filly was a winner during a light spring campaign before she was spelled and a trial win on the synthetic track at Cambridge last month was a sure sign trainer Lance Noble had her forward to resume over 1200 metres.

“She’s pretty smart and on her work last Tuesday we were confident she could go close,” stable representative Chris Smith said.

“It all worked out perfectly and it was an impressive win.”

Flamebird was caught wide early before rider Warren Kennedy settled her one off the fence in fourth spot and she powered clear in the run home for her second success from five appearances.

“She’s got a lot of gate speed and gave me a good kick. It was really emphatic and she can only improve,” Kennedy said.

We bred Flamebird who is out of the Stravinsky mare Lady Firebird, also the dam of dual Group 3 winner Hiflyer and the mother of the G3 Swap Sprint Handicap winner Faithful Feat.

Lady Firebird is a daughter of the stakes winner Miss Power Bird and she is a half-sister to the G1 Hong Kong Mile winner Lucky Owners and to the dam of multiple Group 1 winner Mosheen.
