Flying start for Tavistock’s son22 Nov 2022

The wait for Mr Invincible proved worthwhile at Geelong where the son of the late Tavistock made the perfect start to his career.

The Cambridge Stud-bred four-year-old was the subject of strong support on debut after impressing at jump-outs for trainers Ben and JD Hayes and the money proved right on the mark over 1143 metres.

Mr Invincible was quickly into stride from barrier rise to settle outside the leader and, when asked for a serious effort asserted his superiority in the run home to score by .75l.

“He’s a nice horse who is still learning and he was having a good look around during the race so there’s upside to him,” successful jockey Damien Oliver said.

Purchased for $26,500 via the Gavelhouse platform by Ralph Manning, Mr Invincible is the first foal of the Stravinsky mare Botanic and his younger sister Garden City is also a winner.

The dam is a half-sister to the South African stakes winner Diamond King and they are out of the Listed a Winter Championship winner and G1 New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes winner Salsa.

Botanic foaled a filly by Ten Sovereigns last season and is currently in foal to our first season sire Sword of State.
