Fresh is best for Curragh

New Zealand-bred five-year-old Curragh will be out to improve on a near impeccable first-up record when he resumes over 1400m at Flemington on Saturday.

The Trent Busuttin and Natalie Young-trained son of Tavistock has only been beaten once in four starts when returning from a break.

"He's a mad fresh-up horse, he goes enormous,” Busuttin said. “He's a bit of a funny horse, we still haven't figured him out fully.

“He's a horse that's probably best with cut out of the ground, he's not going to get that on Saturday, but he's got to kick off and get going, he can't sit in his box forever.”
