Funny Girl bounces back at Rotorua

Funny Girl bounces back at Rotorua17 Oct 2021

Our Showcasing filly Funny Girl didn’t have a lot of luck when unplaced in the G3 Gold Trail Stakes and she turned her fortunes around at Rotorua this afternoon with a determined run to double her winning tally.

Prepared at our Karaka stable by Lance Noble, the G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas entry was fighting on gamely at Hastings after making the running, but was crowded in the closing 100 metres and finished ninth.

Funny Girl settled one off the fence in fourth spot under Craig Grylls today and when he asked the filly for a serious effort in the straight she responded positively to drive to victory, her second in five appearances.

We purchased her at New Zealand Bloodstock’s Ready to Run Sale at Karaka where she was offered by Lilywhites Lodge.

She is from a strong Haunui Farm family and is out of the four-time winner Triaction, who is a three-quarter sister to the G1 New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes winner Perfect Fit. She is a daughter of the triple Group 1 winner Fayreform.
