Hello Youmzain made a bold overnight bid to add another Group 1 victory to his impressive record.

Part-owned by Cambridge Stud, he was a gallant runner-up in the Prix Maurice de Gheest at Deauville in France.

The Kevin Ryan-trained stallion has won five of his 11 starts, including the Gr.1 Haydock Sprint Cup and the Gr.1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes. An attempt at a repeat in the Haydock Sprint Cup next month now looks like a logical next target.

"He's been a superstar from day one. From the time he arrived in the yard he was always very naturally talented and a very exciting horse," Ryan told the Racing Post.

"The ground would be plenty quick enough for him and now we'll look forward to Haydock, where his record is unreal and he maybe ought to be unbeaten.

"And there's a chance he might come back to France for the Arc meeting. Nicolas mentioned the Foret there and six and a half seemed to suit him well. He wasn't stopping at all and round a bend as well, that's food for thought.

Ryan was referring to our northern partner Nicolas de Chambure of Haras d'Etreham whose colours Hello Youmzain carried for this race.

“We’re delighted to see him back to his best. In the July Cup last time, he didn’t appreciate the ‘dip’ and once again he hit a flat spot around halfway and then found more. It’s a good result and we’re proud of him.” de Chambure said.
