10 Sep 2021Our shuttle stallion Almanzor sired his third European winner and second this week when Abbado proved far too strong for his rivals at Chester.
Following on from Queen Trezy’s success at Lyon Parilly in France on Wednesday, Abbado made all the running under jockey Ryan Tate over 2100 metres and surged clear in the straight to score by two and a-quarter lengths.
Trained by Sir Mark Prescott, the colt is raced by breeder Cheveley Park Stud and is a half-brother to the Listed Newbury Aphrodite Stakes winner and multiple Group 2 and 3 placegetter Cabaletta.
Their dam is the former top staying mare Allegretto, the daughter of Galileo successful in the G1 Prix Royal Oak and also at Group 2 level on four occasions.
