Cambridge Stud will be hoping Spirit World’s win at Hawkesbury this afternoon will be the forerunner to further success.

The promising Bjorn Baker-trained filly broke through at her third appearance after finishing runner-up at Newcastle. The daughter of Ocean Park was quick to find the front and fought doggedly in the straight to remain at the head of affairs.

Spirit World was a $260,000 Karaka purchase from Haunui Farm, who bred her in partnership with Don Pye. She is a daughter of Our Essence, the dam of two winners and currently in foal to Almanzor.

Our Essence, who won on two occasions, is out of the Gr.3 Queen of the Turf Stakes winner The Perfume Garden.
