Gallant Crown has been in terrific touch this season and further advanced his record at Happy Valley during the week with success over 1650 metres.

Trained by Tony Millard, the Cambridge Stud graduate has now won four races this season and the four-year-old looks more than capable of adding to his record.

“He’s done a great job this season,” Millard told the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

“He’s showing a lot of promise and we’ll just see now how he comes back after this run before we decide if he runs again.

“Matthew (Poon) rode him perfectly and it’s great to see this horse perform like that.”

Gallant Crown was bought out of Cambridge Stud’s New Zealand Bloodstock National Yearling Sale for $40,000 and was a trial winner for Mark Forbes at Ruakaka before his sale to the Equity Syndicate.

He is a son of Hallowed Crown and the Stravinsky mare Justagem, who was successful on three occasions, and she is a half-sister to the G1 Captain Cook Stakes winner Penny Gem and the immediate family of the dual Group 3 winner Night’s Watch.
