Kilmore Cup winner Hazzabeel has booked himself a ticket back to Perth, with trainer Ciaron Maher eyeing off the final Group One race of 2016, the Kingston Town Classic (1800m) on December 3.

Hazzabeel won the Kilmore Cup (1600m) at only his second start for Maher, after relocating from the Perth yard of Daniel Morton to became the 161st stakes winner for Cambridge Stud's great stallion Zabeel and the Caulfield trainer is pleased with how the six-year-old has come through the win.

"He'll get on a flight to WA on Friday and we'll have a look at the Kingstown Town," Maher said on Tuesday morning.

"This time last year, he was very good in the Railway Stakes [finishing fifth]. He's been out of form since, but obviously bounced back in the Kilmore Cup. A lot of his connections and owners are from Western Australia so we'll head over there and see if we can't put another win on the board."

Bred by Valachi Downs' Kevin Hickman, Hazzabeel is a half-brother to Group One-winning Wellfield Lodge stallion Vespa. - Grace Ramage, racing.com
