Holymanz successfully returned to racing at Moonee Valley and the best is yet to come from our Almanzor three-year-old.

He was a touch slow to begin before he improved wide 500 metres from home and finished determinedly for rider Mark Zahra to score by a slender margin.

“He had a nice blow afterwards and 1200 metres around the Valley was a bit sharp for him,” Zahra said.

“He showed good fight and did enough to win and he will improve as he goes further.”

Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Holymanz has now won two of his four starts and will be targeted at the Gr.1 Australian Guineas.

"He'll run in the Gr.3 C S Hayes which is two weeks to the day and that's two weeks to the Guineas," Eustace said.

"That's been the plan for a while, he's going to need that run for sure and I think he'll appreciate the two weeks and bouncing into that run."

We purchased the chestnut for A$400,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale where he was offered by Lime Country Thoroughbreds on behalf of breeder Jamieson Park.

He is out of the winning Dubawi mare Perfect Offering, who also has an unraced Almanzor two-year-old colt, and she is a half-sister to the stakes winner and Group performer My Country.
