Hard to Cross finishes fast for maiden win18 Nov 2022

Our farm graduate Hard to Cross had all eight of his rivals in front of him as the field turned for home at Moonee Valley but he rounded them up in a flash to post an impressive maiden victory.

The three-year-old son of All Too Hard has been patiently handled by trainer Patrick Payne and he relished a step up to 1600 metres under jockey Dean Yendall.

"His last 200 was pretty phenomenal," Yendall enthused.

"To go off a slow speed and sprint like he did for the last furlong and a half, it was a pretty good win"

"Getting a win in town on a Friday night is pretty good for the owners and there's probably a little bit of a bright future for him."

We purchased Hard to Cross in utero with his dam Egyptian Cross for $120,000 at the 2019 Magic Millions National Broodmare sale and sold him as a yearling through the Maluka Thoroughbreds draft at the 2021 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale for $140,000.

Egyptian Cross, who is a daughter of Gr.1 winner Our Egyptian Raine, has subsequently produced a yearling colt by Pierata that we will offer as lot 817 at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
