Promising three-year-old Hard To Cross added to his burgeoning record when he accounted for a competitive age group line-up over 1600 metres on the Hillside course at Sandown.

We bred and sold the son of All Too Hard who has now been successful in three of his nine appearances from Patrick Payne’s Victorian stable.

Hard To Cross settled three back on the rail and rider Jye McNeil stayed closest to the rail into the straight and they finished off too well in the run home.

“Jye rode him brilliantly and he’s a very promising horse,” stable representative Neil Greaves said.

“He profiles like a really nice 2000 metre three-year-old.”

Hard To Cross was a A$140,000 purchase for Malua Bloodstock at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale where he was offered on our behalf by Maluka Thoroughbreds.

He is out of the Commands mare Egyptian Cross, a half-sister to dual Group 3 winner Egyptian Symbol, who is a daughter of the G1 Railway Handicap winner Egyptian Ra.

The dam has a yearling colt by Pierata named Red Sea and foaled a son of Almanzor last season and is back in foal to our Group 1-winning son of Wootton Bassett.
