Hips Don't Lie Headed For Slipper

Stravinsky two-year-old filly Hips Don't Lie cemented herself as a genuine Golden Slipper contender with her win in the Group 2 STC Reisling Stakes (1200m) at Canterbury, Sydney, on Saturday.


The David Hayes-trained juvenile enjoyed a perfect run due to a heedy ride by top jockey Craig Williams.


"We held the rail and she was very game and did everything right and deserves her place in the Slipper," Hayes said.


"She did a great job today. That was very impressive. She's such a tough type.


"And if she draws a barrier in the Slipper, she could be a cheeky chance.


"She did a great job today. That was very impressive."


Purchased by James Bester Bloodstock for $200,000 at the 2007 NZB Premier Yearling Sale from the draft of Trelawney Stud, Hips Don’t Lie is a half-sister to Group One placed Azevedo being from the Centaine mare Procure, a half-sister to Group Three winner Rhythm and stakes-winners Tristachine and Western Music.


Stravinsky will return to the stallion roster at Cambridge Stud in New Zealand in 2008 with his service fee set at $40,000 plus gst.
