Zabeel draws level with Sir Tristram

Jesicabeel makes it 130 individual SW, by Adrian Clark - NZTM

A very special milestone was reached in Sydney today when Jesicabeel (Zabeel ex More Diamonds, by Straight Strike) scored a dominant win in the AJC Chairman’s Handicap-Gr.2

 (2600m) at Royal Randwick.

The four-year-old mare became the 130th individual black type winner for her sire Zabeel, a feat which equals the number of individual winners clocked up by fellow Cambridge Stud stallion Sir Tristram during his long and illustrious career.

Appropriately Jesicabeel carries the famous Cambridge Stud brand, having been bred by Sir Patrick and Justine, Lady Hogan in conjunction with Mrs J C Moody.  Jesicabeel is a graduate of the 2007 Karaka Premier Sale, having been sold by Cambridge Stud to trainer John O’Shea for NZ$220,000.

Jesicabeel will now go forward to the Group One Sydney Cup (3200m) in a fortnight’s time.

The mare is a relative of the Champion Hong Kong galloper Indigenous who won 15 races and was named HK Horse of the Year in 1999.

Congratulations Zabeel - you've done your dad proud!
