HKG3 Winner For Keeper

7 Feb 2010

The run of black type achievement for Cambridge Stud's Keeper continued at the weekend with Special Days (Keeper ex Eva's Belle, by Grosvenor) landing a narrow win at Hong Kong's Sha Tin racecourse in the Jebsen Centenary Vase-HKG3.

Special Days was notching his first black-type success, but had looked every bit a stakes quality horse when running fourth at his previous outing in the Group One Stewards' Cup behind Walsburg Pride, Thumbs Up and Good Ba Ba.

Bred by the Little Avondale Trust in conjunction with N C Petrie, Special Days is a graduate of New Zealand Bloodstock's 2005 Ready to Run Sale.

He was offered there by Mana Park and sold for $160,000 to the bid of Magus Equine in Hong Kong.

Special Days is from the Grosvenor mare Eva's Belle, herself a three times winning daughter of the Avondale Cup-Gr.1 winner Eva Grace.

The third dam is So Fox who won a Lowland Stakes-Gr.3 and Ladies Mile-LR.

Trained by John Size, Special Days has now won 7 of his 28 starts and been placed on 9 occasions.
