Holster fires winning shot at Pakenham26 Aug 2021

Cambridge Stud graduate Holster successfully resumed at Pakenham this afternoon with a dominant performance to win over 1400 metres.

The well-related son of Tavistock has been lightly-raced and has proved a reliable performer throughout his career with two victories to his credit from 12 appearances and further eight placings.

"He is really green still," co-trainer Amy Yargi said after the race.

"He's been a work in progress, he wanted to get up and pull early days. We've done a lot of work getting him to switch off."

"We think he's genuine midweek city class but he just needs to learn how to do it all."

"He's a Tavistock, they always get better with time and I think over a little bit further he's going to come into his own."

Holster is a son of the Rock of Gibraltar mare Lovetrista, a talented race mare who won the G2 Waikato Gold Cup, the Listed Soliloquy Stakes, the Listed James and Annie Sarten Memorial and finished third in the G1 New Zealand 1000 Guineas.

Lovetrista, who is a daughter of the dual Group 1 winner Tristalove and another member of the legendary Eight Carat family, has a yearling colt by Embellish and will make a return visit to the Cambridge Stud stallion this season.

Holster was originally an AU$240,000 Inglis Easter Yearling Sale when offered by Bhima Thoroughbreds on behalf of Cambridge Stud.

He was subsequently purchased by current trainers Amy and Ash Yargi for AU$70,000 via the 2020 Inglis Digital September Sale.
