Hot performance from Devildom

Hot performance from Devildom9 Dec 2022

Devildom was in a league of his own at Tauranga where he overcame trying conditions to post a hollow victory at just his third appearance.

In a 1600 metre contest run in driving rain, our homebred and sold son of Almanzor was second last with half the race run before the Lance O’Sullivan and Andrew Scott-trained representative started to pick up ground.

The three-year-old, who holds Group 1 nominations for the Levin Classic and New Zealand Derby, was widest at the top of the straight and powered home under Craig Grylls to win going away by 1.8l.

Devildom was purchased out of our draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale by the Mai family for $180,000.

In 2009, we secured his Irish-bred dam Sussex Dancer at the Tattersalls Mares Sale and she has subsequently proved her worth with all eight of her foals to race now successful, including black type performers Reeverderci and Meghan.

A sister to G3 Noblesse Stakes winner and G1 Irish Oaks runner-up Ice Baby, Sussex Dancer has an unraced juvenile brother to Devildom named Gatzby while her Ribchester colt sold for $10,000 at this year’s National Weanling Sale.
