Jaarffi turned her fortunes around in fine style at Te Rapa where she came from the back of the field to overpower her Rating 65 rivals over 1200 metres.

Our Lance Noble-trained daughter of Iffraaj settled second last and was still back on the turn before she weaved between runners with a stirring finish under rider Vinnie Colgan to claim top honours.

Jaarffi had broken her maiden at Avondale in the autumn and was then given a break and finished fourth when resuming in October.

She reappeared at Te Rapa three weeks later, but tailed the field home after suffering cardiac arrhythmia before bouncing back in her return to the Hamilton course.

The four-year-old is a homebred daughter of the Redoute’s Choice mare Pride Of Tralee, a half-sister to the three-time Group 1 winner Serenade Rose and to the dam of Trekking, twice successful at the elite level, and dual Group 3 winner Tralee Rose.

Pride Of Tralee is also the dam of the multiple winner and stakes performer Crystal Fountain.
