Insouciant returned to winning form with a vengeance at today's Egmont Racing Club meeting at Hawera.

Racing in the distinctive colours of Peter and Philip Vela of Pencarrow Stud fame, Insouciant was soon in the lead for jockey Michael Walker and the filly left her rivals in her wake in the final stages running well clear to score by four lengths under a strong hold in a respectable time.

Insouciant won in brilliant fashion on debut at Taupo in track record time before finishing a gallant fourth in the Listed Soliloquy Stakes at Ellerslie.

The Mark Walker-trained filly is entered for the Group 1 New Zealand Bloodstock 1000 Guineas (1600m) at Riccarton in November. The New Zealand TAB currently has Insouciant as second favourite for this race at $6 on its fixed odds market.

Insoucient's dam, the Palace Music mare Loudenne, is also the dam of Group 3 winner Copper Mountain (by Jetball), and has a yearling colt by freshman sire Johar to go forward to the 2008 New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sales at Karaka.
