Dundeel’s son Investigate showed he had a bright staying future when he successfully stepped up to a middle distance for the first time at New Plymouth.

The Tony Pike-trained three-year-old had placed in his three previous appearances and he relished the rise in trip to 2000 metres.

He coasted along in second spot for rider Wiremu Pinn before striding to the front at the top of the straight and forged clear to score by 3.3l.

We bred Investigate who was sold through our draft at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Yearling Sale to Jim Bruford's Brewers Bloodstock for $70,000.

He is a son of the winning Lawman mare Mitigate, who we purchased for 50,000gns at the 2018 Tattersalls December Mares’ Sale.

She is a half-sister to the multiple stakes winners Kick On and Sabratah and they are out of the Marju mare Marika, also successful at black type level.

Mitigate’s first foal Hilary’s Boy has won four times in England and the mare also has an unraced juvenile filly by So You Think and is back in foal to the multiple Group 1-winning son of High Chaparral.
