The excellent race mare Katy Keen (Zorro’s Lad ex Tangelo, by Exploding Prospect) produced her second foal at Cambridge Stud yesterday, a colt by Zabeel.
Her first foal is a Zabeel two-year-old filly named Katy O’Beel.
Katy Keen won 10 races including the Cambridge JC Travis Stakes-Gr.2, Rotorua Cup-Gr.3 and New Zealand St Leger-LR. Her wins ranged from 1600m to 2500m and at one point of her career she strung together 7 straight victories.
The fourth dam of the newborn Zabeel colt is Prepak (Pakistan 11), NZ Filly of the Year at three and the winner of 17 races in all including the NZ 1000 Guineas-Gr.1.
