Keeper Continues Fine Roll At Tauranga

19 Apr 2008

Stakes performer Sequential (Keeper x Selenium) returned to the winners' circle with a vengeance in the final event at Saturday's Tauranga race-meeting.

The win continued the fine run enjoyed throughout this season by Cambridge Stud's new sire sensation, Keeper.

Keeper, a Group 1 winning son of Danehill, is the leading sire of three-year-olds in New Zealand for the 2007/08 season and is the third New Zealand-based sire on the general sires list for NZ this season. He sired the Group 1 winners Insouciant (NZ 1000 Guineas) and Keepa Cruisin (Levin Classic).

Keeper is the sire of 66 individual race winners from three crops to the races including nine stakes performers.

Sequential, a four-year-old mare and one of the first crop produced by Keeper, is trained at Matamata by Lance O'Sullivan and Andrew Scott.

Sequential has now recorded three wins with her previous successes coming at Paeroa (May 2007) and Te Rapa (October 2007).

The dam of Sequential, Selenium, was the winner of six races - all of these successes coming over the distance of 1200m. She was also second in the Listed Mason Appliances Four-Year-Old earlier this season.
