Keeper Produces Another Class 3YO Filly

5 Mar 2011

Keeper’s ability to leave black type-winning three-year-old fillies was evident again yesterday when his daughter Midnight Oil scored a dominant win in the Lowland Stakes-Gr.3 (2100m) at Hastings.

Last season Keeper sired two Oaks winners; namely Keep the Peace (Wellfield NZ Oaks-Gr.1) and Miss Keepsake (Queensland Oaks-Gr.1), while both Insouciant (NZ 1000 Guineas-Gr.1) and Keepa Cruisin (Levin Classic-Gr.1) are other examples of top class three-year-old fillies by the sire.

Midnight Oil (Keeper ex Gilded Light, by Gilded Time), who is prepared by Paul Duncan, has won three races from seven starts in her first season of racing.  The filly is nominated for the $300,000 Wellfield New Zealand Oaks-Gr.1 (2400m) at Trentham Gardens in two weeks time and looks a leading hope following yesterday’s win.
