Leading stables strike for Embellish progeny13 May 2021

The New Zealand Bloodstock National Weanling Sale marked the sale ring debut for the progeny of Embellish and it was two of New Zealand's premier stables that took an early opportunity to secure the progeny of the G1 NZ 2,000 Guineas winner.

Lot 105 attained the highest price for his sire when he was knocked down to Hastings trainer John Bary for $36,000. The Cambridge Stud consigned colt is out of the Stratum mare Markle, he is from the family of G1 VRC Oaks winner Bulla Borghese. Bary will be hoping the colt can follow in the footsteps of his G1 winner Callsign Mav who is also a NZB Weanling Sale graduate.

It was bloodstock agent Phill Cataldo that landed the winning bid for the second highest priced Embellish weanling. Cataldo was acting for the Johno Benner and Hollie Wynyard training partnership when he purchased lot 114 for $35,000. The December born colt was bred by Bloomsbury Stud and is a half-brother to Benner and Wynyard's leading three-year-old Montre Moi. Montre Moi's principal performances this season included a third place finish in the Karaka Million 3YO Classic.
