Well-related three-year-old Lorna starred on her return to competition with a breakthrough victory at Geelong.
The daughter of U S Navy Flag hadn’t raced since a respectable midfield finish in the Kennedy Oaks Preview over 1800 metres at Flemington during the Melbourne Cup carnival.
Our homebred filly was presented in prime order by trainers Mark and Levi Kavanagh for her resuming run over 1412 metres and finished strongly from fifth on the turn to come over the top of her rivals under apprentice Tom Prebble.
Placed in one of her three previous starts, Lorna is from the legendary Eight Carat family and was sold on our behalf by Bhima Thoroughbreds to Kavanagh Racing for A$30,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale.
She is out of the Savabeel mare Vironvay who is a granddaughter of the G1 Captain Cook Stakes winner Marquis.
She is dam of the G1 Arrowfield Stud Stakes winner Shower Of Roses with Hiyaam, successful in an edition of the G1 Vinery Stud Stakes, also on the pedigree page.
