The first crop foals of Cambridge Stud sire
Lucky Unicorn are arriving on the ground and attracting very favourable reports from breeders.

"The reports are that Lucky Unicorn's foals areall of good size and very nice types with plenty of leg," said Sir Patrick Hogan of Cambridge Stud.

"The four foals born so far by him are all bays so he is obviously stamping his stock," Sir Patrick said.

Last week saw the arrival of a bay filly by Lucky Unicorn from Ultimate Honor (Honor Grades x Togaris Pride), a five-times race winning mare owned by New Plymouth trainer Allan Sharrock in partnership with New Plymouth couple Nevil and Christine Shriver.

"She is a very nice filly from the reports we have had and her mother was a very handy type," Sharrock said.

Lucky Unicorn, a stakes-winning son of Redoute's Choice, joined the Cambridge Stud stallion roster last spring.

Lucky Unicorn notched up five wins during a 15-start career, which concluded last weekend, with his wins coming over distances of 1000m, 1200m, 1400m and 1600m. He raced successfully in both Hong Kong and Australia and amassed? stake earnings of HK$1.6 million and A$172,500.

Lucky Unicorn won his first three starts in Hong Kong in brilliant fashion before transferring to the Melbourne stable of Tony Vasil.

Lucky Unicorn won the Listed Chester Manifold Stakes by two lengths at Sandown and finished a good third in the Group 3 Carlyon Cup behind multiple Group 1 winning Apache Cat.
