Longchamp (ex Shot at the Title, by Danehill) became the latest black type performer for his in-demand sire Tavistock when placing third in today's Group Two Hawkes Bay Guineas at Hastings.
It's been a big couple of weeks for Tavistock with Volkstok'n'barrell (Bonecrusher Stakes-Gr.3) and Avisto (Soliloquy Stakes-LR) providing the sire with a black type double at Ellerslie last Saturday.
The result prompted a flood of applications to Tavistock, to the extent that his book was closed on Tuesday.
Longchamp, who is prepared by Andrew Campbell - who trained Tavistock during his career - was good enough to run fifth in the Karaka Million last season at two, having won on debut.
