Red Shift (Lucky Unicorn ex Scarlet Queen, by Fasliyev) came into Queensland Derby contention with a solid third placing in yesterday’s Group Three Grand Prix Stakes (2200m) behind Brambles and Vatuvei at Doomben.

Trained by Roger James for Oti Racing, Red Shift is on the sixth line of favouritism with Sportingbet (www.sportingbet.com.au) for the Group One Queensland Derby in a fortnight.

The gelding is from the first crop of Lucky Unicorn.  He won two races in New Zealand and was placed seventh in Silent Achiever’s New Zealand Derby.

Lucky Unicorn is currently the sire of 11 individual winners; 10 from his first crop (now 3YOs) and one from his second crop.
