New stakes winner for Almanzor20 Dec 2022

Almanzor’s lightly tried daughter Katoucha has added black type to her burgeoning record in France.

She had posted three wins and two placings from her first nine appearances before bridging the gap to stakes company at Deauville for trainer Fabrice Vermeulen.

The three-year-old was ridden by Eddy Hardoun and thundered home to claim the major spoils in the Listed Prix Petit Etoile over 1900 metres.

Katoucha is out of Holy Roman Emperor mare Perfect Day and was a $176,000 purchase at the Arqana Deauville Select Yearling Sale.

Her second dam is the former top filly Yesterday, a daughter of Sadler’s Wells who won three races including the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas and her sister Quarter Moon claimed an edition of the G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes.

Katoucha is Almanzor's fourth stakes winner out of a Danehill-line mare from just 34 runners.
