No barrier blues for Snazzytavi

No barrier blues for Snazzytavi2 Dec 2023

An awkward draw at Te Rapa wasn’t enough to stop our promising mare Snazzytavi doubling her winning tally.

She jumped well from a wide barrier and, in a truly run race over 1400 metres, was able to tuck in behind midfield before improving wide near the turn.

The Graham Richardson and Rogan Norvall-trained daughter of the late Tavistock then unwound powerfully for rider Warren Kennedy for her second victory in five appearances.

“There was nice speed early and she travelled beautifully and once she saw clear air, she really finished off nicely,” Kennedy said.

Snazzytavi had put the writing on the wall in her previous outing when she resumed at Pukekohe to finish a close second.

“Her last run brought her on and she improved with the blinkers,” Norvall said.

“She struck a good track and was able to come off a good speed and put them away.”

Snazzytavi was bred by Gordon Cunningham's Suncroft Bloodstock out of the Zabeel mare Ritzy Lady, who won six races and showed her staying prowess with success in the Listed New Zealand St Leger and finished runner-up in the G2 Counties Cup.
