No trouble for Niffler

No trouble for Niffler20 Aug 2022

Tavistock mare Niffler was back to winning ways at Randwick where she coasted home under a perfect ride from James McDonald.

Our dependable homebred five-year-old has now advanced her record to five wins and five placings from 12 appearances from Chris Waller’s Sydney stable.

Off the back of an uncharacteristic previous failure on the course, Niffler was away well from a handy gate to sit in fifth spot.

McDonald peeled three wide at the top of the straight and the mare strode to the front 150 metres from home to put the race to bed.

Niffler was bought out of our 2019 New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale draft for $200,000 by bloodstock agent Guy Mulcaster for Debbie Kepitis’ Woppitt Bloodstock.

She is a daughter of the G3 Desert Gold Stakes winner Glamorous Girl, who has a 100 percent record at stud with all seven foals to race have all been successful.

We have retained Glamorous Girl’s unraced three-year-old colt Jackman, a son of Tavistock, and sold her yearling filly by Eminent sold at Karaka for $16,000 while the dam is due to our resident sire Embellish this spring.
