November Rain became the 65th individual black type winner for her sire Stravinsky when taking out the Group Two Cal Isuzu Stakes (1600m) at Te Rapa yesterday.
The four-year-old mare had not won a stakes race previously, but had been second in the New Zealand Oaks-Gr.1, Easter Handicap-Gr.1, Sir Tristram Fillies Classic-Gr.2 and Sunline Vase-LR.
Bred by Joan Egan, November Rain was sold by Trelawney Stud at the 2008 Karaka Premier Sale for $170,000. The buyer was Richard Collett who trains the mare from his Pukekohe base. His son, Jason, was the successful rider.
November Rain (Stravinksy ex Lady Teruko, by Kris S) is likely to race next on Boxing Day in the Cambridge Stud-sponsored Zabeel Classic-Gr.1, a weight-for-age contest over 2000 metres.
