Ocean Park & Silent Achiever showcase Zabeel damsire influence at the Valley

26 Oct 2012

Zabeel is already the W S Cox Plate’s most successful sire with four individual winners and today he added his name as the broodmare sire of the 2012 winner with Ocean Park storming to a memorable victory.

It was the fourth-straight Group One victory for Ocean Park (Thorn Park ex Sayyida, by Zabeel) who might be seen out next Saturday in the A$1m L K S MacKinnon Stakes-Gr.1 on Derby Day at Flemington.

Ocean Park had numerous battles with Silent Achiever (O’Reilly ex Winning Spree, by Zabeel) last season at three and ironically they both recorded significant victories at Moonee Valley today.

Silent Achiever looked right back to the form which saw him win the NZ Derby last season when swooping to victory in the Schweppes Crystal Mile-Gr.2 (1600m) in the hands of James McDonald.

Zabeel now has a long lead in the Australian Broodmare Sire Premiership, a title he won for the first time last season.

This season alone Zabeel is already the damsire of 3 individual Group One winners; Commanding Jewel (Thousand Guineas), Ocean Park (4 x Gr.1) and It’s a Dundeel (Spring Champion Stakes).
