Our Modena strikes again

Our Modena strikes again17 Dec 2022

Tavistock mare Our Modena had performed admirably in her first two outings this preparation and she capped off those efforts with success in the closing event at Randwick.

Our homebred daughter of the late Tavistock had finished third in both of her Rosehill outings before relishing the step up to 1400 metres to post the fifth victory of her career.

Trained by Scott Singleton, Our Modena was given a fine ride by apprentice Reece Jones in fourth spot off the fence before peeling three wide near the turn and produced an irresistible finish in the straight.

She was purchased out of out 2018 draft at Karaka by agent Bruce Perry for $420,000 for an ownership group that includes Milan Park’s Tony Rider.

A half-sister to the Listed Oaks Prelude winner Miss Ella, Our Modena is a daughter of the Zabeel mare Miss Zenella who won twice and finished runner-up in the G1 Queensland Oaks.

Miss Zenella is from the famed Eight Carat family and all four of her foals to race have been successful.

She currently has a yearling filly by Almanzor and foaled a colt to our shuttle stallion this season before a return visit.
