Well-bred filly Eau De Vie streeted her rivals over 1600 metres at Kembla Grange for a richly deserved maiden victory.
Our daughter of Snitzel had placed in all four of her previous runs for trainers Richard and Will Freedman and delivered under a good ride from Brock Ryan.
He took any luck out of the equation by heading to the front and after she surged clear 350 metres from home the race was won and they coasted to the line with 3.3l to spare.
We also bred the runner-up Iberian Ruler, who was originally sold for A$70,000 at the Inglis Classic Yearling Sale. He is a son of Almanzor and the Encosta De Lago mare Spring Venture who is from the famed Eight Carat family.
Eau De Vie was purchased from breeder Arrowfield Stud’s draft at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for A$400,000.
She is out of the Listed Laelia Stakes winner C’Est Beau La Vie who is a half-sister to dual Group 3 winner and G1 Hong Kong Cup sprint runner-up Jolly Wonder and the Listed Redoute’s Choice Stakes winner Wales.
Under the second dam is the two-time Australian Horse of the Year and historic three-time G1 Melbourne Cup heroine Makybe Diva, also a G1 Cox Plate winner.
