Tavistock’s genuine son Playoffs added to his record with a strong staying performance to win over 2500 metres at Moonee Valley this afternoon.

Trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, the four-year-old sat in second spot under rider John Allen and proved too strong in the run home.

Playoffs was bought out of Cambridge Stud’s draft at Karaka for $230,000 by Dean Hathorne on behalf of prominent owner Jonathan Munz.

“It’s great to get a win for Jonathan and his fellow owners. He’s been building to this and John knows him well,” Maher said.

Playoffs has been patiently handled and now has four wins and six placings from his 14 appearances.

He is out of the Zabeel mare Lazaan, who has left three winners including the Group 3 performer Divine Power.

A brother to Lazaan was sold in 2020 to Hong Kong interests for $250,000 and Tony Pike bought Lazaan’s Almanzor colt this year for $130,000.
