Queensland Derby aim for son of Tavistock

Tavistock three-year-old Tavidream will have his Classic hopes tested at his next appearance.

The talented three-year-old will step up to a middle distance for the first time in the Gr.2 Valachi Downs Championship Stakes (2100m) at Ellerslie on April 22.

"We want to try him over a trip at home and then we'll think about Brisbane and the Derby there for him," said Donna Logan, who trains the Tavistock gelding with Chris Gibbs.

Tavidream had also been in the running for a trip to Sydney for Saturday's Gr.3 Frank Packer Plate at Randwick, but the weather washed out that plan.

"It's just too wet for him in Sydney," Logan said.

Tavidream has been successful in four of his six starts and last time out he completed a hat-trick of Ellerslie wins, all at the expense of the older horses. - NZ Racing Desk
