Recent results a further boost for Almanzor5 May 2020

The stakes wins of Sacramento and House of Cartier in recent weeks have added further strength to the books of mares covered by Almanzor in his first two crops.

The Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Sacramento broke through for a first stakes win in the Listed VRC St Leger at Flemington on April 25th. In a tight finish the Pierro three-year-old nosed out Cambridge Stud graduate Saint Eustace.

Sacramento was bred by Rob Crabtree out of his Gr.3 VRC Vanity Stakes winner Alzora. Alzora was sent to New Zealand to visit Almanzor in his first season at stud and produced a colt by the European Champion last spring.

The following weekend Almanzor's second crop benefited from the win of House of Cartier in the Listed Wagga Wagga Gold Cup. House of Cartier is out of the four-time Gr.1 winner Shez Sinsational who was crowned Champion Stayer in New Zealand.

Shez Sinsational has also made an impressive start to her broodmare career as her first two foals are now both stakes winners as House of Cartier joined Sinarahma. Shez Sinsational was most recently bred to Almanzor.

Almanzor has covered full books in his first two seasons at Cambridge Stud and as the likes of Alzora and Shez Sinsational highlight, he has been supported with quality as well as quantity.
