18 Nov 2019Cambridge Stud and resident stallion Tavistock enjoyed a red-letter day at today’s Rotorua meeting.
Brendan and Jo Lindsay’s English-bred mare Gravitelle broke her maiden while Tavistock chimed in with a winning double.
Gravitelle was a 26,000 pound purchase at the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale by Queensland bloodstock agent John Foote.
She is a daughter of Pivotal and the Nayef mare Quenelle, a half-sister to the black type winner Viva Vettori.
Their dam Cruinn A Bhord is a half-sister to the former European Horse of the Year and multiple Group One winner Ouija Board.
She has also proved her worth in the broodmare role, producing the three-time top-flight winner Australia.
With that depth of pedigree, Gravitelle will be a quality addition to the Cambridge Stud broodmare band.
In the meantime, the Lance Noble-trained the four-year-old looks to have plenty offer on the track as she struck today at just her third appearance.
Tavistock’s son Lum Reek, trained by breeder David Wilson, also posted her maiden success in good time.
The four-year-old was making her second start after an unplaced run on debut when she suffered a torrid run.
The Love Racing-owned Caribbean Rose completed Tavistock’s double when she struck the first winning blow of her career.
Trained by Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman, she was bred by Sir Patrick and Justine Lady Hogan.
A $200,000 Karaka graduate, Caribbean Rose is a daughter of the Redoute’s Choice mare Pride Of Tralee.
The dam is a half-sister to the three-time Australian Group One winner Serenade Rose.
