A change of environment has worked wonders for our well-related Not A Single Doubt filly Hinata.

The three-year-old easily broke her maiden at Bairnsdale in her first appearance from Te Akau’s Cranbourne stable after below par efforts in four appearances for Eagle Farm trainer Tony Gollan.

Hinata sat three back on the fence in her Victorian debut before angling clear 300 metres from home and then surged clear to win comfortably at the end of 1000 metres.

“They weren’t going quickly up front and I had plenty of horse under me and she let go with a really good effort,” rider Liam Riordan said.

“I only had my first sit on her three weeks ago and she gave me a good feel and the team were confident of a good effort. I was really grateful for the opportunity.”

We purchased Hinata for A$425,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale where she was offered by Segenhoe Stud.

A half-sister to this season’s Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic winner Highness, Hinata is a daughter of the unraced Northern Meteor mare Diana’s Star who is a half-sister to five-time Group 1-winning former Australian Horse of the Year and sire Dissident.
