Almanzor was among the headline acts on day two of a strong edition of the New Zealand Bloodstock Ready to Run Sale.

Reigning Champion New Zealand trainer Jamie Richards took the opportunity to return home from Hong Kong to bolster the stocks of his stable and it was a son of Almanzor that took his eye.

Richards teamed up with agent Andy Williams to buy five horses at the sale, the most expensive of those was an Ohukia Lodge consigned son of Almanzor and Zabeel mare Salkantay for $475,000.

"A really nice horse, he's been bought for some new clients in Hong Kong," Richards said following the purchase.

"This horse is going to stay here a little bit longer and he's going to go into training with dad (Paul Richards) and we're going to take him up once he's qualified as a PP."

"I'm really excited to get him, he's by a very exciting stallion that I've had a bit of success with."

Prior to his relocation to Hong Kong Richards trained Almanzor's son Dynastic to win the Listed Karaka Million 2YO and place second in the Gr.1 Sistema Stakes last season.
