A Cambridge Stud-owned filly has added further performance in Victoria to her rich and deep pedigree.
Excelida doubled her winning tally at yesterday’s Pakenham meeting and now has two victories from just five appearances.
She is trained by David and Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig with her latest success against older opposition over 1400 metres.
Excelida is a three-year-old daughter of Exceed And Excel and was a AUD$460,000 Inglis Sydney Easter Yearling Sale purchase.
Offered by Trelawney Stud, the filly is out of Lady Sayyida who is a half-sister to the multiple Group One winner Ocean Park.
The Cox Plate winner was New Zealand’s Horse of the Year in 2012-13 before his retirement to stud.
His dam Sayyida has also produced the mother of the dual Group One winner Grunt.
The Gr.1 Golden Slipper Stakes winner Courtza and her son, the champion sire O’Reilly are other major family features.
With this pedigree and the prospect of further racetrack success, Excelida will be a valuable future addition to the Cambridge Stud broodmare band.
