Sale pending for Tavistock's son Tavidream

A veterinary examination today on behalf of Australian interests will decide the future of autumn three-year-old star Tavidream, theinformant.co.nz has reported.

The Tavistock gelding, who took his record to five wins from seven starts with victory in the Gr.2 Valachi Downs Championship Stakes at Ellerslie on Saturday, has for some time been the centre of intense speculation from overseas interests.

Those have come to a head with today's inspection and a decision that is likely to be finalised by the end of the week.

"He's under offer to Australia and we've got a vet coming up tomorrow," co-trainer and part-owner Chris Gibbs told Dennis Ryan of theinformant.co.nz.

"There was talk of a sale last week but we let them know that we wanted to run him at Ellerslie.

"This way there'll either be a sale by Friday afternoon if he passes the vet, and if he doesn't we'll continue to race him. As it is he's got owners who aren't that keen to see him go but you can't argue the money that's being offered."

Confirmation with Saturday's 2100m win that he would manage a middle-distance put the Queensland Derby high on Tavidream's agenda and to that end he holds a booking for next week's charter flight to Brisbane. - theinformant.co.nz
