Savabeel 3YO breaks through20 May 2022

Fazzabeel is a work in progress but raw talent was enough to see our homebred open his winning account at Cranbourne.

The three-year-old son of Savabeel had posted a quartet of top four finishes in his fledgling career before proving superior to his rivals over 1600 metres.

Trained on the track by Gavin Bedggood, he was given a cosy run by rider Michael Dee in second spot before challenging at the top of the straight and, despite a tendency to lug in, he was untroubled to score.

“It was a well-deserved win, that’s for sure. He just wanted to lay in when he got to the front, but he felt great in his action and that win will give him confidence and I’m sure there are plenty more in store,” Dee said.

Fazzabeel is a son of the former talented race mare Fazzle, a daughter of Johar who won eight races including the G2 Auckland Thoroughbred Breeders’ Stakes.

All three of the late Fazzle’s foals to race have been successful and we sold her yearling colt by Embellish to Queensland interests at New Zealand Bloodstock’s National Online Yearling Sale this year.

Fazzabeel was originally purchased by trainer Chris Waller and agent Guy Mulcaster out of our New Zealand Bloodstock Yearling Sale draft for $100,000. He was placed in a handful of starts before Bedggood bought him via the Inglis Digital March Sale.
