The talented Sherrif remained unbeaten this preparation when he produced a commanding performance to win at Trentham.

Successful resuming at New Plymouth for trainer Roger James and Robert Wellwood, he was again untroubled to win today’s open handicap over 1600 metres.

The Cambridge Stud-bred and raced Sherrif settled off the pace improving before the turn and he held a strong gallop in the straight.

He has been patiently handled and the best looks yet to come from the five-year-old.

By High Chaparral, he is out of the Danehill mare J’Adane, who was a multiple Group One placegetter.

She has done a fine job at stud and has also produced the Group Three winners Von Tunzelman and Price Jabeel.

Sherrif is also a Group Three winner, having claimed the Manawatu Classic as a three-year-old.
