Significant pedigree update for Tavistock colt17 Dec 2019

Romantic Lady’s recent run of form has thrown the spotlight on her Karaka-bound younger half-brother.

The Power filly extended her winning sequence to three at Matamata this afternoon, again at the expense of older opposition.

”That was a really tough effort. Everyone said it’s hard to go from maiden to Rating 65 and she’s gone to 72 on the bounce,” trainer Jamie Richards said.

Romantic Lady sat toward the back of the field before improving four wide and produced a relentless finish in the straight.

She was bred by Sir Patrick and Lady Justine Hogan and is now the winner of three of her five starts.

“We’ll take stock of things now. There’s a three-year-old race over 1200 metres for her at Ellerslie and then maybe on the Mr Tiz,” Richards said.

Cambridge Stud will offer Romantic Lady’s half-brother by Tavistock as Lot 233 during Book 1 at Karaka next month.

They are out of the Fastnet Rock mare Romantic Time, a half-sister to the Gr.2 Silver Slipper Stakes winner Amelia’s Dream.

It is also the family of the Gr.1 BMW Stakes winner and Gr.1 Rosehill Guineas runner-up Grand Zulu.
