Sir Patrick Hogan warns breeders not to delay on Cape Blanco

24 Aug 2014

Sir Patrick Hogan made it clear to breeders attending last Saturday's Stallion Parade at Cambridge Stud that the book for Cape Blanco was quickly reaching capacity.

A five time Group One-winning son of Galileo, Cape Blanco looked in magnificent order on Saturday as he prepares for his third season on the shuttle to Cambridge Stud.

He covered 135 mares in year one and that crop of now yearlings will be seen out at the 2015 yearling sales rounds across New Zealand and Australia.

Cape Blanco had a $100,000 seller at the NZB National Weanling Sale and Sir Patrick says there is a long line of youngsters just as good, if not better, than the weanling colt ex Tip The Wink who made the second-best price at the May Sale at Karaka.

Cape Blanco's sire, Galileo, is having another fantastic year at stud and currently leads both the Great Britain and Ireland Stallion Premierships.

During 2013 Galileo sired 7 individual Group One winners.  This calendar year he's already up to 6 individual Group One winners, namely...

* Australia

* Noble Mission

* Tapestry

* Adelaide

* Marvellous

* Spiritjim

Cape Blanco's fee for 2014 has been set at $14,000 plus gst.  A live foal guarantee applies and payment is not required until 30 June 2015.
