When Lights of Heaven won last Saturday’s Schweppes Australasian Oaks at Morphettville in South Australia, it took Zabeel’s individual tally of Group One winners to 41.
According to figures provide today by Arion Pedigrees (www.arion.co.nz), Zabeel is now only 4 Group One winners short of the lifetime achievement of his own sire, Sir Tristram, who clocked up 45 individual Group One winners during his long and illustrious career at Cambridge Stud.
On the score of individual black type winners, Zabeel has already passed the mark achieved by Sir Tristram. Zabeel is currently at 136 individual stakes winners, while Sir Tristram’s lifetime tally is 130.
