Sir Patrick Hogan was the centre of attention in a glamorous Hospice Waikato fundraising event hosted at SKY CITY, Hamilton, on Wednesday night.


Interviewed by the knowledgeable Steve Davis, Sir Patrick Hogan revealed great insight into his remarkable racing experiences and life alongside world renowned stallion Sir Tristram.


Sir Patrick was pleased to share his experiences while contributing to the evening's programme. "What a wonderful way to spend an evening - sharing great stories about racing legends, and furthermore raising funds for a charity that makes an appreciable difference to the Hamilton community."


Several auction items were available to guests including a limited edition print of work by equine artist Lyn Beaumont. The Beaumont piece and horse memorabilia raised over $10,000 in auction with all proceeds going to Hospice Waikato.


Arthur Pitcher, General Manager of SKYCITY Hamilton, was delighted to welcome guests to the event held in the name of such a worthwhile cause. "It was a pleasure to showcase the outstanding sports personality Sir Patrick Hogan but also to acknowledge such a great local charitÿ."


Chief executive of Hospice Waikato, Elizabeth Bang, gratefully accepted the donation from the event and complimented Sky City on the professionalism of the function. "It really was fabulous, even the chocolate mousse presentaiton was horse inspired."


Speaking on behalf of Hospice she said how privileged the chartiy felt in having Sir Patrick's support.


"The lovely thing is that he chose us," she said.
